What Jesus Said on the Cross?
Dear brothers and sisters, greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! Today is Good Friday, and we will talk about a great truth. What Jesus said on the cross? This question can change our lives. Jesus spoke seven sayings on the cross (seven sayings of Jesus on the cross), and each one shows God’s love, Jesus’ salvation, and guidance for our lives. In this Telugu Christian sermon (Telugu Christian sermon), let’s think about these seven sayings and understand God’s love (God’s love).
Good Friday: The Gift of God’s Love to Humanity
Good Friday (Good Friday sermon) is called the “Good Friday” because it’s the day God gave His love as a gift to humanity. Sin entered the world through Adam and Eve, and humanity came under death. The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death.” To save humanity from this death, God sent His only Son, Jesus. Isaiah 53:5 says: “But he was pierced for our transgressions… by his wounds we are healed”. Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, died on the cross in our place. This God’s love (God’s love) is why we call this day “Good Friday.”
The Seven Sayings of Jesus on the Cross: A Life of God’s Love
What Jesus said on the cross? He spoke seven sayings, each showing the truth of God’s love and Jesus’ salvation (Jesus’ salvation). In the Bible, the number seven is a sign of God’s perfection. After Noah’s flood, God made a covenant with the rainbow, which has seven colors. These seven sayings fill our lives with God’s love.
First Saying: God’s Love in Forgiveness
The first saying is in Luke 23:34: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” What Jesus said on the cross? He spoke about forgiveness (forgiveness). The people who crucified Jesus mocked Him, but He prayed for them. This saying shows God’s love and forgiveness. Today, we should also forgive our enemies. In a Telugu family, if there’s a fight with neighbors, forgiving them can bring peace.
Second Saying: The Promise of Jesus’ Salvation
The second saying is in Luke 23:43: “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise”. What Jesus said on the cross? He spoke about Jesus’ salvation. A thief on the cross believed in Jesus and asked to be remembered. Jesus promised him eternal life. This saying shows God’s grace—even a sinner who believes in Jesus can be saved. Like a young man who left a life of sin and found Jesus, going from Satan in the morning to paradise with Jesus by evening, we can also be saved.
Third Saying: Love in Family Responsibility
The third saying is in John 19:26-27: “Woman, here is your son… Here is your mother”. What Jesus said on the cross? He showed love in family responsibility. Even in great pain, Jesus didn’t forget His mother, Mary, and entrusted her to His disciple John. This saying reminds us to care for our parents. Today, we should look after our parents and not see them as a burden.
Fourth Saying: God’s Justice as the Foundation of Our Salvation
The fourth saying is in Matthew 27:46: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”. What Jesus said on the cross? He showed God’s justice and our salvation. At that moment, God turned away from Jesus because Jesus was carrying our sins. This saying is the foundation of our salvation—God temporarily left Jesus to hold our hands forever. Because of this God’s love, we are saved from eternal hell.
Fifth Saying: God’s Love Fulfills Spiritual Thirst
The fifth saying is in John 19:28: “I am thirsty”. What Jesus said on the cross? He showed God’s love that fulfills our spiritual thirst. Jesus was thirsty physically, but this also points to our spiritual thirst. At the well, Jesus told the Samaritan woman, “The water I give will stop your thirst forever.” If we feel empty in life today, going to Jesus will fill that thirst.
Sixth Saying: God’s Work Is Finished
The sixth saying is in John 19:30: “It is finished”. What Jesus said on the cross? He said God’s work was finished. Jesus completed the work of salvation His Father gave Him—paying the price for our sins and defeating Satan. This saying is a declaration of victory. No matter how many problems we face in life, Jesus’ victory gives us strength.
Seventh Saying: Safety in the Father’s Hands
The seventh saying is in Luke 23:46: “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit”. What Jesus said on the cross? He showed safety in God’s presence. John 10:18 says: “I lay down my life… of my own accord”. Jesus willingly gave His life to give us eternal life. This saying gives us hope—we too will be safe in the Father’s hands.
How to Show God’s Love in Our Lives with These Sayings?
How does the truth of What Jesus said on the cross change our lives? These seven sayings teach us forgiveness, salvation, responsibility, justice, spiritual fullness, victory, and God’s presence. If we think about these sayings today, we can show God’s love in our lives. A Telugu Christian who follows these sayings can reflect God’s love in their family and community. Through this Good Friday sermon, let’s walk like Jesus.
