Understanding a Valuable Life
What makes a valuable life? We often think money, property, or jobs are the most important things. But imagine a child who throws away a $10 bill to pick up a toy—he doesn’t know its worth. In the same way, if we don’t understand value, we lose a valuable life for something small. Proverbs 4:7-8 says, "Give everything to gain wisdom; it will lift you up." Wisdom is worth more than money for a valuable life.
Esau: Giving Up a Valuable Life
Let’s look at Esau’s story in Genesis 25:27-34. Esau had the birthright—a big blessing from God, a chance to be a leader. But one day, he was hungry and traded it for a bowl of stew. He said, "I’m starving; what’s the use of this birthright?" Because he didn’t stay close to God, he didn’t see the worth of a valuable life. He chose short-term food over God’s big plan.
Jacob: Choosing a Valuable Life
Jacob lived differently. He stayed close to God and valued the birthright. He didn’t care about the stew and took the blessing instead. Because of this, his family grew into Israel, and from his line came King David and Jesus. Why? Jacob chose a valuable life by picking God over small things. A valuable life comes from being friends with God.
Amnon: Losing a Valuable Life Without Wisdom
In 2 Samuel 13, Amnon, David’s oldest son, had a chance to be king. But he lacked wisdom and made a terrible choice—he hurt his sister Tamar for selfish desires. Because of this, he lost everything and died a bad death. Amnon threw away a valuable life for a moment of pleasure. Without wisdom, we can lose what’s truly valuable.
Daniel: Building a Valuable Life with Wisdom
Daniel 6:3 says, "Daniel stood out because he had great wisdom." Even as a prisoner, he stayed close to God and gained wisdom. This made him a leader in a big kingdom. Hosea 13:13 says, "A person without wisdom won’t grow." Daniel chose a valuable life by trusting God, and he rose from slavery to honor.
Paul: Living a Valuable Life Through Service
In Acts 20:24, Paul says, "My life isn’t precious to me; I just want to finish the work Jesus gave me." He was beaten with stones but kept preaching the next day (Acts 14:19-20). Why? He knew serving God was worth more than his life. In Philippians 3:8, he says, "I gave up everything for Christ." Paul lived a valuable life by choosing God’s work over comfort.
Jesus: The Price of a Valuable Life
Psalm 49:6-9 says, "No one can pay enough to save a soul." Money can’t buy life. But Jesus paid with His priceless blood to save us. Matthew 16:26 asks, "What’s the point of gaining the world if you lose your soul?" His blood washes us clean and gives us a valuable life forever in heaven.
A Young Man’s Story: Finding a Valuable Life
A young man from Punjab studied engineering in London. At first, he burned a Bible. But when he read it, he accepted Jesus. His family rejected him, but he chose a valuable life with Jesus and started thousands of churches. Staying close to God helped him find a valuable life.
Kamalakar: A Valuable Life in Service
One night, a man named Kamalakar called me. He said, "I have cancer; please pray." Then he added, "Talking to you is a blessing for my life." He saw the value of God’s work even in pain. When we serve others, we live a valuable life, and God uses us to help souls.
Our Choice for a Valuable Life
Now it’s up to us: Phone or Bible? Money or wisdom? Friends or God? Esau lost his blessing for stew, Amnon lost a throne for sin. But Jacob, Daniel, and Paul chose a valuable life with God. Will we lose heaven for small joys? Or give up the world for Jesus’ blood?
Staying Close to God: The Way to a Valuable Life
Romans 11:17-24 compares us to wild olive branches and Jesus to a good olive tree. God joins us to Him. When we stay close, we change and live like Him. Wisdom, goodness, and purpose come from Jesus. Friendship with Him leads to a valuable life.
Closing: Let’s Live a Valuable Life with Jesus’ Blood
Friends, nothing is worth more than Jesus’ blood. It cleans our sins and opens heaven’s door. Let’s live a valuable life with prayer and God’s Word. Say, "Let’s give up worthless things for a valuable life; let’s never lose Jesus!" Clap and shout "Amen!" God will bless us.
