35:1

Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me

Coming to God in Hard Times

God’s Justice shines as a light of hope in our troubles, brothers and sisters. At Christian Messages, we invite you to God’s presence this morning as we face heavy hearts. In Telugu states and across India, Christians endure violence and unfairness—like the tragic death of God’s servant Praveen Pagadala. Was it an accident or murder? We don’t know yet, but this injustice stirs us to ask: Lord, where are You? What are You doing while Your children suffer? Today, Psalm 35:1 guides us: ‘Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.’ Through this verse, let’s explore how God’s Justice rescues us in hard times.

Crying Out for God’s Help

Calling for God’s Justice in Unfair Times

Brothers and sisters, do we think justice happens in this world? Attacks on Christian churches and harsh words against God’s Word make our hearts ache. David felt this too. In Psalm 35:1, he cried out, “Contend, Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.” When King Saul chased him for no reason, where did David go? To God! In 1 Samuel 24:15, he said, “May the Lord be our judge and decide between us. May he consider my cause and uphold it; may he vindicate me by delivering me from your hand”

Today, we see unfairness too. God’s people are being hurt. Churches are torn down. Bibles are burned. Who do we turn to in times like this? The world won’t give us justice, but God’s court will! He is the true Judge!

God’s Help in Troubles - Our Rescue

Sisters, don’t think God stays quiet. His help is amazing! When David was trapped by Saul, he could have killed him but said, “I won’t harm the Lord’s anointed.” God protected David. In Psalm 17:2, he prayed, “Let my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right”.

When Pharaoh took Abraham’s wife Sarah, God stepped in and saved her with great troubles for Pharaoh. When Joseph was in prison, God stayed with him and later lifted him to the second-highest place in Egypt. In our troubles today, God steps in too. Jesus said in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world”. His victory is our light of hope!

Speaking Up for Justice - Our Duty

Brothers, we can’t stay silent when we need justice. When we know the truth, we must bravely share it. Like Habakkuk, who climbed a tower and asked, “Lord, what are You doing while the wicked hurt Your children?” In Psalm 94:1, it says, “The Lord is a God who avenges. O God who avenges, shine forth”.

We see doubts and false stories about Praveen’s death. In times like this, we must raise our voices. “We want justice!” we should cry out. The world hates us, but Jesus prayed for us (John 17). In these troubles, let’s pray for God’s help. He will stand with us and bring justice.

Prayer: Crying to God for Justice

Holy Father, we praise Your name! We come to You in these hard times. We don’t know where to go for justice, so we seek Your shelter. Like David prayed in Psalm 35:1, “Fight against those who fight against me,” we cry out for Your help. You see the violence against Christians in our country and state, don’t You? Comfort Your children and give them courage. Let Your justice be our light of hope. Help us forgive our enemies and pray for them, as You taught us. Keep us strong in Your power. We give You all glory and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen!
