Leviticus

2:13

Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings.

God’s Faithfulness—Our Life’s Foundation

Faithfulness is a wonderful quality, dear brothers and sisters, and today we’re going to think about it! In this world, when we trust someone, they might let us down sometimes. But God is different. He’s completely trustworthy, true, and His Word is always sure! In Leviticus 2:13, God says, “Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings”. When I read this verse, a thought came to my heart—wow, how faithful God is! Through the salt covenant with David and the blood covenant with us, He shows His amazing promises. Let’s explore the joyful way of living with God’s faithfulness together!

God’s Faithfulness in Our Lives

Faithfulness in the Salt Covenant

Brothers and sisters, let’s look at how God’s faithfulness shines in the salt covenant. What’s salt? It’s not just something simple—it never spoils and can even keep other things from going bad. Long ago, when people made an agreement, they shared salt. They’d say, “As long as the sun, moon, and stars are there, we’ll keep this promise.” That’s why they called it the “salt covenant.” In 2 Chronicles 13:5, God says to David, “Don’t you know that the Lord, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?”.

We know who David was—a shepherd boy who won God’s heart. God told him, “David, your throne in Jerusalem will last forever. Your family will rule as kings.” This salt covenant happened around 1000 BC. Now, 3000 years have passed! Think about it—how many kingdoms have come and gone in that time? How many wars have been fought? How many enemies have tried to destroy Israel? Yet, Israel and Jerusalem still stand today. Why? Because of God’s faithfulness! His promise never spoils, never fails—it lasts forever.

In this world, kings rise and fall. In our own country, India got freedom in 1947, and different parties ruled for a few decades—one group, then another. But no kingdom lasts forever. Some rule for 40 years, some for 50, and then they’re gone. But David’s throne has stood for 3000 years! This shows God’s faithfulness. His Word is so sure, so steady, that it fills us with wonder. When we see how faithful He is, it gives us joy and courage to trust Him more. God’s faithfulness in the salt covenant reminds us that He never forgets His people or His promises.

Faithfulness in the Blood Covenant

Now, let’s think about God’s faithfulness in the blood covenant. The salt covenant is great, but the blood covenant is even better. Why? Because salt is just a thing, but blood means life! Jesus Christ shed His blood on the cross and made an eternal covenant with us. Hebrews 13:20-21 says, “Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen”.

Friends, the salt covenant lasts as long as the sun and moon are in the sky. But the blood covenant is forever—it even reaches into heaven! Through Jesus’ blood, we get forgiveness for our sins. That blood washes us clean and makes us God’s children. How does this faithfulness work in our lives? Sometimes we feel like stepping toward the world’s ways. Maybe we think, “Just once, I’ll try this.” But the power of Jesus’ blood grabs us and pulls us back to God’s path.

Let me give you an example. Imagine a cat falling from a seven-story building. It might flip and tumble in the air, but when it hits the ground, it lands on its feet! In the same way, our lives might feel like they’re flipping upside down with troubles. But Jesus’ blood covenant keeps us steady. God’s faithfulness makes sure we land on our feet, no matter what happens. He strengthens us, makes us complete, and promises us a place in heaven with Him. This faithfulness brings peace and happiness to our hearts, knowing we’re safe in His hands forever.

Faithfulness in Our Daily Lives

Finally, let’s see how God’s faithfulness works in our daily lives. In Jeremiah 33:20-21, God says, “This is what the Lord says: ‘If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time, then my covenant with David my servant—and my covenant with the Levites who are priests ministering before me—can be broken’”. Nobody can stop the sun from rising in the east or the moon from shining at night. In the same way, no one can cancel God’s promises!

In Genesis 8:22, God told Noah, “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease”. Can anyone change the seasons? Rainy season, cold season, hot season—they all come because of God’s covenant. Just like that, the salt covenant with David and the blood covenant with us will never fail. Sometimes in life, when troubles come, we might think, “Has God forgotten me?” But His faithfulness never leaves us.

1 Peter 2:5 says, “You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ”. God makes us His temple! Even when our lives feel shaky, He keeps us steady. The devil might say, “This person’s done for!” But God’s faithfulness wins in the end. Imagine your life tumbling like that cat—flipping and falling. The enemy might laugh, thinking you’re finished. But God’s faithfulness lifts you up at the last moment.

In tough times, we might feel weak, but God’s promise holds us tight. Isaiah 55:3 says, “Give ear and come to me; listen, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David”. If we listen to God, His faithfulness gives us eternal life—not just here on earth, but in heaven too. He makes us kings with Him in His kingdom! This faithfulness gives us hope, strength, and a reason to praise Him every day.

Prayer

Loving God, thank You for showing us Your faithfulness through Your Word. We praise You for keeping David safe with the salt covenant and us with the blood covenant. Help us listen to Your Word and live the way You want. Keep us steady with Your faithfulness and bless us to live with You in heaven. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
